Dr.
Taylor specializes in the investigation of project network dynamics in the global architecture, engineering and construction
industry and the leadership challenges these dynamics create. His current research focuses on the trending increase in global
outsourcing of complex engineering services, developing collaboration tools and enabling practices to support collaborative
work in global virtual teams, and the impact of integrated technologies on global project networks.
Dr. Taylor
is the Director of the Project Network Dynamics Lab at Columbia and is currently the principal investigator on grants funded
by the National Science Foundation, the Construction Industry Institute, and the Earth Institute. Through
a combination of in-depth field research, lab experimentation, and computational simulation modeling Dr. Taylor and his research
team develop practical organizational change strategies and technologies while extending theories of project leadership organizational
dynamics.
Dr. Taylor received his PhD from Stanford University and his research has received honors from Stanford
University, the Academy of Management, the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, the American Society of Civil Engineers, FIATECH, and
was the recipient of a Fulbright Grant. Dr. Taylor serves on the Editorial Board of the ASCE Journal of
Construction Engineering and Management.
Prior to joining Columbia University, Dr. Taylor worked for a decade as a project
manager of heavy civil construction projects, film production projects, and software development projects.
